Cricut question....

I need a little info from ya'll out there. My original Cricut machine has been used maybe 12 times then i got the Expression. Well I went to use the Cricut Creat the other day and the circle of lights/buttons around the cut button did not light up when powered up. Has anyone else had this problem?
